End of the world 2012 – By Earthquake?
What happened to the Maya? Was their civilization destroyed by Earthquakes and are Earthquakes connected to the 2012 Mayan Calendar, End of the World 2012 – Fin Del Mundo – Prophecy?
First lets clear the air on a few misconceptions floating around the web. The Maya did not die off as a people. In Guatemala alone today more than half of Guatemalans are descendants of the original Mayan who built the temples in and around Guatemala. So those stating that “If the Mayans’s could predict the end of the world 2012 then they should have been able to predict their own doomsday first” are flat wrong. And they never were “wiped out” by the Spanish, at least not as a race.
FACT: The Mayan Calendar was developed by a civilization that flourished throughout much of Southern Mexico, Guatemala and the surrounding region long before the Spanish arrived. But the fact is that they had seen their peak hundreds of years before the Spanish started their long conquest of the area. Sonot predicting the Spanish has nothing to do with the subject of the Mayan End of the World 2012 prophecy.
By the time the Mayans were first defeated by the Spanish in a major battle,by Pedro de Alvarado in 1523-24, the Mayan civilization has already seen a major decline. Historians debate weather it was caused by Earthquake, Famine, disease, war, etc. But a look at the luck the Spanish had in Guatemala can shed some light on the fate of the early Mayans, It may also help explain the 2012 Mayan Calendar "end of the World" prophecy a little. The fact is that the first colonial capital in Guatemala, Ciudad Vieja, was ruined by floods and an earthquake in 1542. Survivors of Ciudad Vieja founded Antigua, the second capital, in 1543. Then 200 years later Antigua was destroyed by two earthquakes in 1773. SO if the Mayans were to foresee an end of the world 2012, on December 21 2012 to be exact, it is very easy to see how they could pick an earthquake as being the cause!
FACT: David Stuart of the Peabody Museum, Harvard University has studied the hieroglyph above which is from the Temple XVIII at Palanquin and analyzed it. According to David it looks to be read yuk-(u)l-aj kab, “the earth was shaken,”. David proposed that this hieroglyph is a unique Pre-Columbian Maya record of an earthquake! IS that the 2012 Mayan Calendar Prophecy? That Earthquakes will be the end of the world 2012? You can read David’s paper at this link: http://www.mesoweb.com/stuart/notes/Earthquake.pdf
FACT: Southern Mexico, Guatemala and most of the region inhabited by the Mayan people is a hotbed for Earthquakes. OK By now you should see the 2012 Mayan Calendar evidence really pointing towards earthquakes! If the Mayans did for see the end of the world 2012 then it would be ,easy to see how they would see the 2012 apocalypse being caused by earthquakes! See the map of Earthquakes in that region from the USGS above. Opinion – Given the above, it would be easy to see how the Mayans might predict the end of the world, especially by Earthquake, on December 21 2012!
FACT: Guatemala's capital was devastated by a major earthquake in February 1976. OVER 23,000 PEOPLE DIED – half of them descendents of the original Mayans!. The quake was along a fault line more then 200 kilometers in length! AGAIN! Half of those were direct descendents of the Original Mayans who created the Mayan Calendar, the same Mayan calendar which has a Major cycle ending on December 21, 2012, which happens to be the same exact day that the sun aligns with the center of the Milky Way Galaxy for the first time in 26,000 years,! December 21, 2012! Could all the devastating earthquakes of the last 5 years be leading up to the end of the world 2012? The 2012 Mayan Prophecy?
FACT: Here is a list (with links) to major Guatemala earthquakes in the last 100 years:
- 1902 04 19 – Guatemala – M 7.5 Fatalities 2,000
- 1942 08 06 – Guatemala – M 7.9 Fatalities 38
- 1976 02 04 – Guatemala – M 7.5 Fatalities 23,000
- 2007 06 13 – Offshore Guatemala – M 6.7
OPINION: The US Government is trying to downplay the amount of major earthquakes lately and the media is saying they are unrelated. But look at this list of recent major quakes from the USGS earthquake site, and these are just from the last few months. Could all these earthquakes be leading up to the 2012 Mayan Calendar Prophecy? that the end of the world 2012 is going to be caused by earthquakes? Was the Mayan Calendar Prophecy Right? Read learn and discover the truth for yourself! You can click on any of these links below to read about these recent, major earthquakes:

Summary: The Mayans lived in an area plagued by Earthquakes. Historians do NOT know what caused the decline of their civilization from around 900 AD until the Spanish arrived and started to conquer the weakened Mayans 400-500 years later. Many people believe that Earthquakes could have been the cause or a major contributor. We showed a Hieroglyph from a Mayan Temple believed to be depicting an Earthquake! We Know that their area of the world has had a history of devastating earthquakes! We know that the current cycle of their long calendar ends on December 21 2012! We know that we are seeing an incredible amount of deadly earthquakes around the globe. Will we die in 2012 because of earthquakes? Is that what the Mayans Believed???
We have seen major devastating Earthquakes with frightening regularity since the start of “The new Millennium (Y2K)”. Could these all be related? Could this be the cause of a major Doomsday event on December 21 2012 like many people believe the Mayan Calendar is telling us? Will we die in 2012? While the Maya like many ancient cultures built some magnificent structures they were still a primative and superstitious culture that even practiced human sacrifice. Why would we place any great import on their superstitious or religious concepts? If we believe they knew 2012 would see the end of life as we know it, should we not embrace their other beliefs and practices? Of course not. They were not privy to any sacred information. At 55 years old I have lived through many end of the world scares and all this is quite honestly is another one of those. I would love to see the world restructured back to a more moral place to live in safety, and it will in time through Jesus Christ, not through the media hyped predictions of a primative culture of people.
I thought I should let you guys know that the Mayans didn't predict the end of the world…. The date the Mayans predicted marks the end of a solar cycle on their calendar. They never gave any indication that the world would end. This and many other websites is simply a way for people to take advantage of advertising and make a few cheap bucks. Although kudos to them for figuring out how to make some money.
Read more here there are articles covering both sides of this controversy.
Neither you nor I know what the end of the Mayan long calendar means.
It is all about interpretation.
Our life is entirely based upon our interpretation of the world around us. For example, most people don’t understand that objects like flowers or crayons don’t contain colors. The colors are just a byproduct of the refraction of light off the surface of the objects structure. different structures refract light differently giving them different colors when exposed to the broad white light spectrum. But they contain no color. But we interpret them to have color.
If you die in 2012, then for you, for all practicle purposes, the mayan calendar prophecy was right. It was doomsday for you. AND if you die then for all practicle purposes to you it is doomsday for the world.
Even if the Mayans did think it was the end of the world as we know it, or they knew it, picking the day or even year is a crap shoot since we really don’t know what day their calendar started on. Everyone who says they do are just making intelligent guesses!
Heck, this could be it right now, or the start of it. Many in Japan would agree. But you could say that about avian flu (befor it mercifully stopped killing) or swine flu, etc.
Isaac Newton Predicted the End of the World in 2060!
in an article taken from
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Isaac-Newton-Predicted-the-End-of-the-World-in-2060-57548.shtml
Sir Isaac Newton was an English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher and alchemist, regarded by many as the greatest figure in the history of science. He is probably most famous for describing the laws of universal gravity, after seeing an apple fall from a tree.
He’s not only famous for his three universal laws of motion that were not to be improved upon for more than two hundred years. He also predicted the end of the world in a 1704 letter that went on show in Jerusalem on Sunday.
In this letter, he claims that the world would end 1,260 years after the foundation of the Holy Roman Empire in Western Europe in 800 AD. This is the first time the letter has been put on public show since 1969, said the representatives of the Jerusalem’s Hebrew University, where the letter is part of an exhibition entitled “Newton’s Secrets.”
Newton based its predictions on the Bible, specifically on verses in the Book of Daniel and they are part of an array of papers of the British scientist bequeathed to the institution by a wealthy collector of scientific manuscripts.
Actually Newton was not a religious fanatic. On the contrary, he secured a royal exemption from the ordination in the Church of England that was normally expected of academics of his day so he would not have to follow its teachings.
He seemed to have taken a particular interest in superstitions of his time, which have long since been taken lightly by modern science. Newton’s study of the Bible and of the early Church Fathers was among his greatest passions. He devoted more time to the study of the Scriptures, the Fathers, and to Alchemy than to science, and said, “I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by those who were inspired. I study the Bible daily.”
He also attempted, apparently unsuccessfully, to find hidden messages within the Bible, and believed that he Bible “is a cryptogram set by the Almighty – a riddle of the Godhead of past and future events divinely fore-ordained. This prophecy is called the Revelation, with respect to the Scripture of Truth, which Daniel was commanded to shut up and seal, till the time of the end. Until that time comes, the Lamb is opening the seals.”
